Bushkill and Lower Nazareth Elementary School both had very successful Math-A-Thons this spring to raise money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A total 77 students participated at Bushkill Elementary, and they collected a total of $4,734.07 for the children at St. Jude’s. At Lower Nazareth Elementary, 87 students participated, and they collected a total of $6,600.00 for St. Jude’s. Between the two schools, $11,334.07 was sent to St. Jude’s to help all the sick children and their families.

A rep at St. Jude’s mentioned that elementary schools similar in size to Bushkill and Lower Nazareth raise an average of about $1,500 in Math-A-Thon donations. So… the monetary amounts raised by Bushkill and Lower Nazareth are quite extraordinary– and show just how caring and giving these students and their school communities are. As a matter-of-fact, since Lower Nazareth started doing Math-A-Thons years ago, they have now surpassed the $125,000.00 donation mark for the children of St. Jude’s. And that is simply—AWESOME!!!

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was the first institution established for the sole purpose of conducting research into catastrophic childhood diseases, mainly cancer. They maintain over 80 inpatient beds and treat about 275 children each day. St.Jude’s treats children without regard to race, religion, creed, or ability to pay. They are the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance and where families without insurance are never asked to pay.

Alton Mann, Math-A-Thon Coordinator at each school, would like to extend his sincere thanks to all the students who participated this school year, as well as to all the parents, relatives, friends, and staff members who sponsored students.   The time and generosity displayed was truly exemplary….
