Flexible Instruction Days (FID) Information
With the cancellation of school on Friday, December 23, 2022, Dr. Kaskey has reconsidered his decision to use all five (5) flexible instructional days before using traditional snow days.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) allows school districts to use a FID as an alternative approach to delivering instruction if a circumstance arises that prevents instruction in a customary manner.
Circumstances include, but are not limited to, the following: a disease epidemic, a hazardous weather condition, a law enforcement emergency, the inoperability of school buses or other equipment necessary to the school entity's operation, damage to a school building, or another temporary circumstance rendering any portion of a school building unfit or unsafe for use.
The decision allows Dr. Kaskey the flexibility to analyze the circumstances and select the best course of action.
