The Nazareth Area Intermediate School (NAIS) was opened in 1998. It was originally built as a middle school housing grades 6-7-8 when the elementary schools reconfigured to K-5 schools with an increase enrollment. In 2009, the district enrollment increased again at the upper elementary school grades. Another reconfiguration came again and the elementary schools became K-3 buildings and the Intermediate School was created for Grades 4-5-6.  The Intermediate School was a combination of teachers from the elementary and middle schools.  In 2021-2022 school year, the district is once again reconfiguring their schools as enrollment again increases. Fourth grade is moved back to the elementary schools and the intermediate only houses grades 5 and 6.  NAIS is very excited about this opportunity to create a new culture of learning and excitement for its students.
