The Nazareth Area Intermediate School (NAIS) was opened in 1998. It was originally built as a middle school housing grades 6-7-8 when the elementary schools reconfigured to K-5 schools with an increase enrollment. In 2009, the district enrollment increased again at the upper elementary school grades. Another reconfiguration came again and the elementary schools became K-3 buildings and the Intermediate School was created for Grades 4-5-6. The Intermediate School was a combination of teachers from the elementary and middle schools. Beginning in 2021-2022 school year, the district is once again reconfiguring their schools as enrollment again increases. Fourth grade is moving back to the elementary schools and the intermediate will only house grades 5 and 6. NAIS is very excited about this opportunity to create a new culture of learning and excitement for its students.
The mission of Nazareth Area Intermediate School is to provide each student a diverse education in a safe, supportive environment that promotes self-discipline, motivation, and excellence in learning. The Nazareth Area Intermediate team joins the parents and community to assist the students in developing skills to become independent and self-sufficient adults who will succeed and contribute responsibly in a global community.
