Clubs and Activities
-
Our middle school offers clubs throughout the school year. Some clubs are held all year and others are held for a quarter or time period through the year. Club sign ups will begin during the month of the September. Signs up will be posted to the school webpage and Schoology. Club advisors often maintain a Schoology page with meeting dates, information and other supplies you need. Once a student is in the club, the student will be added to that group and both the student and parent will have access to important club information as an avenue of communicating with one another.

AEVIDUM
Mrs. Michelle Famularo and Ms. Hannah Oren are the club advisors.
The word Aevidum, which means "I've got your back," was created by students in 2004 after their classmate died by suicide. There are 2 main goals of Aevidum: to create positive environments where all students feel accepted, appreciated, acknowledged, and cared for in schools and communities across the nation (the 4 pillars) and to erase the stigma around mental health. All students are welcome to join anytime. Students will be involved in activities designed to support the 4 pillars.

Art Club
Art Club is open to both seventh and eighth grade students who are interested in art. Mrs. Lauren Candler is the advisor.
This is a great place to explore your personal interests in art and to gain some hands-on experience with art tools and materials if you are not in art class or if you just want more art in your life! Throughout the course of the year, we will participate in community service, building beautification, and many more exciting unique projects that will be showcased around the building as well as NAMS yearly art show.

Band
Mr. Matt Tanzos is the advisor.
Band class is set up to teach the students how to be a part of an ensemble as a musician in a section of the band. The students will work on band techniques, posture techniques, music terminology, balance and ensemble issues, solo vs. group performances, music theory and music history as it relates to the music they are performing for the semester, and performance skills.
Students will be REQUIRED to attend ALL Band rehearsals that fall on a “A” Day. Each student will have the option to attend another specific club/activity on ONE of the other 2 rehearsal days of the cycle, provided they receive prior permission from the director. In order to be excused on those days, the director must “untag” you from Flex OR another teacher or administrator must tag you as a “Priority - Has To Attend”
Band students will also receive a weekly “pull out” lesson on a rotating basis across the different periods. Students MUST attend these lessons and create a pass for themselves to come to the band room at those times. A new lesson schedule will be posted at the end of each week for the following week. It is the students’ responsibility to check when their lesson will take place AND check in with their teacher to turn in homework/get missed assignments! If a student has a test or quiz in class during their scheduled lesson, they should communicate this to the director and complete that before arriving for the lesson.
