Q & A

  • What is the district doing to improve student academic achievement?

    Posted by:

Principals regularly engage in discussions about student achievement as part of their building leadership teams and actively monitor student growth through progress-monitoring practices. Throughout the school year, they participated in the Beginning-of-Year (BOY), Middle-of-Year (MOY), and End-of-Year (EOY) Cycle of Inquiry meetings with district directors and the Superintendent. Additionally, on November 12, 2024, principals presented data on student achievement related to benchmark assessments. Directors also contributed to the district’s focus on academic progress by presenting information on student achievement growth, specifically aligned with the Future Ready Index, on February 11, 2025.

  • How does the district decide on the format for curricular resources?

    Posted by:

As part of the curriculum review process, decisions are made through a committee-based approach, recognizing that no single resource is perfect. The district’s core curriculum includes both hard copy textbooks—either as classroom sets or individual student copies—and digital versions. At this time, no decision has been made to eliminate hard copy textbooks. In grades K-6, students use paper-based curricular resources for reading and math. For science and social studies, the curriculum is locally designed, with all instructional materials housed in Schoology. In grades 7-12, classrooms are equipped with sets of textbooks alongside access to online versions, and students are provided with individual textbooks whenever needed.

  • What is the district administration’s approach to Artificial Intelligence?

    Posted by:

The district is gradually integrating AI as an instructional tool, currently focused on professional staff through training on workflow efficiency and creative lesson design. AI supports personalized learning by adjusting to student needs, helps teachers by generating plans and resources, and improves efficiency by automating tasks like forms and newsletters. It also enhances student engagement through tools like Magic School AI, which helps with writing skills, and offers flashcards, tutorials, and project templates. All efforts align with Board Policy 815.1.
