Grades K-4 Curriculum Overview
Students in grades K-4 are provided with a strong foundation in the four core areas of: Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies each day. The curriculum for each grade level is reviewed in a curriculum cycle to ensure alignment to Pennsylvania State Standards. In addition, curricular units are developed through the use of curriculum committees comprised of teachers, specialists, and administrators with the goal that students in each grade level will leave the grade with the same base of knowledge. Students are assessed using common assessments and are graded using a standards-based report card that has been aligned to the revised Pennsylvania Academic Standards. In addition to core content areas, students also receive instruction in the special areas, which include Art, Music, Physical Education, and Library.
